Dewey was so desperate to get a job that he answered a phone call for Ned because that call was for him as a substitute teacher at a school. He introduced himself as Ned and took that job, and Mr. S didn’t identify him so he started the class. And the very next day heard that the students were not playing some of the musical instruments.
He gets the idea to form a band with the students that you were teaching and take them to an audition at Battle of the Bands. The project takes the place of regular classes while fostering student confidence and highlighting their talents. “The School of Rock” is the name of the band.
But shortly after, Ned learns about Dewey’s trick and lets the school know. Dewey then has to depart the day before the contest for which he had been preparing the band. Dewey’s ability to play with his newly formed band at the competition is still up in the air.
