Very stable, the added value is that I still have all the fairphones I bought (one each for my son and daughter) so far, so the new green one is in good company. I own this new phone since last week, so it's very new, perfectly working, very shiny and beautiful :)Maybe it's an early impression, it seems to me the battery lasts approximately 1 our less than a new one on a fp3+. I'm liking the new touch detector for the fingerprint, even if I need time to get used to its position I find it easy to use, protected, so maybe more long-lasting than the previous one. The touch on the monitor is slightly different from the previous versions of it; what is different also is the camera! I'm taking amazing pictures, and I love this feature.

Robust phone, easy to use,. Chose it mainly because of the fact that the company is a B Corp, sourcing most of the materials as locally as possible, prefers fair trade, has a 5 year guarantee, doesn't supply superfluous stuff like cables.

Why fairphone is my choice. I buy a phone, and I am allowed by manufacturer to put on it custom operating system. Beautiful design and robust construction. Personally, I would preffer a smaller screen/phone.

Phone crashed repeatedly and within a few minutes ceased to work. I have been trying for over a week to contact Fairphone customer support. Online chat support is only available 12 hours/week and no response to emails/ online support form.My family have Fairphones and they have been excellent. I applaud the ethical manufacturing and component sourcing, but this customer service experience has been terrible.

I valued it three starts just not be too harsh as Fairphone has a good purpose. I would give it 1 to be fair. I bought my first FP more than one month ago. It arrived with a problem with the screen, which kept it black, and it took weeks to receive the confirmation it was not my fault so I could have my money back (Even if I live in the Netherlands, not far from Amsterdam). As I try to do my very best to improve this world, I decided to give it a second chance. Now, it has been less than 3 weeks since the new FP arrived, and the screen has started to flick. Unfortunately, this time, the first two weeks for giving it back have already passed. Otherwise, I would return it immediately not to buy it anymore. I prefer to donate money rather than buy a sustainable product, which complicates my life. This should not be called sustainability.

Brought the FP4 for it's sustainability. Couldn't justify buying the FP5 on price. Works well as a phone and a camera. It's a little bit bigger than I would have wanted but hopefully FP 6 will be made a little smaller (?). Ordering was easy, delivery was quick, good to have the option to pick up from a UPS point rather than waiting in at home.A happy customer.

This is a great phone if you don't do anything special (like heavy gaming), the battery life is really good, the physical layout of the buttons is great, fingerprint sensor is very fast, and the camera is decent especially since the free software update, which gave massive improvements. The fact it's fully repairable means I'll probably replace the battery in a few years instead of getting a new phone. The up-front investment in a repairable phone is more than a phone of comparable spec (like the Google Pixel A series). But the planet is fairly important, so the investment is more than worth it. It's also a little thicker and heavier than other phones, but that just means it feels really solid. For me, a case makes it too bulky, but with a replaceable plastic back I haven't been worried.

The Fairphone 4 is nice and practical and, so far, has done everything I needed. I am a relatively basic user, but from what I see:* The screen is wide and works very well,* I haven't had any issue with microphones and headphones, the audio has always been good in general,* It took me around 90 minutes to start the phone for the first time and transfer all apps, accounts etc. I am not a pro user, if I did it, I think it is feasible for everyone with basic literacy,* The battery is lasting a whole day, sometimes even more. I don't use the phone intensively, but I have used it while travelling, with railway apps etc, without any problem,* The camera is good, not exceptional, but so far it has done everything I needed, including some nice pictures with low light,* The only downside is that the phone is relatively heavy.I don't know if I would have bought the Fairphone 4 without the 30% discount I got on the website, but so far I am happy with it, also considering the ethical side, that is quite important, at least for me.

Love my new phone. It works much better than my old Samsung Galaxy. Took some getting used to slightly different functions but works well with all my Apps - particularly Android Auto which used to be really slow. I really like the more robust feel you get from being slightly heavier and feeling good about not adding to un-recycled waste. Very affordable in comparison with other options. I would highly recommend this phone.

I think that the direction is definitely the right one :) I especially like the minimalistic set of apps and the fact that the phone does not disturb you too much with unneccesary, cluttered things. It IS quite heavy and bulky, compared to other modern smartphones and maybe won't suit you, if you're someone, who absolutely needs all the latest capabilities, but for someone who needs their everyday needs of e-mails, documents, youtube, mapping and other stuff met, then completely sufficient. One thing I would really like, however, is more weatherproofing - water resistance would be great - or atleast some very handy and convenient waterproof case options. My main priority this time was sustainability and security (switching away from Chinese government controlled companies). Hope, I will be able to use for many years to come.

Here are some aspects, that are omitted from the official spec-sheet: 1. The bootloader remains free, that means you can install ANY operating system of your choice, as it should be. 2. The phone is built like a tank. Even without a case it remains usable, in contrast to almost every other smartphone out there and although the back is a softer, more flexible plastic, it is sufficient to protect against usual water splashes and dirt. 3. When something breaks, you have access to any single part to repair it and if that is beyond your budget, you also get schematics for component-level repair. 4. This phone will even survive my mum.Truth be told, you will only recognise how terrible other phones are, once you have one of these, not because of confirmation bias, but when your phone can survive being dropped and still work fine without the glass on the back shattering, or god forbid, even replace the battery by just prying the back off with your bare hands, you will ask yourself, why everything has gone wrong in this industry.As for their “sustainability” advertising: The materials/supply chain are fairer. Reminder. Neither you nor I can do anything for the climate, 100 companies produce the majority of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. The most sustainable thing you and I can do, is to hang onto our stuff for as long as possible, repairing it as efficiently as possible, the effect on the climate remains irrelevant.

when I turn on speakerphone during a call, people cannot hear me properlyI tried to take videos during a concert, audio was terrible, worst record evercamera not so good neither, above all in night settingssometimes touchscreen doesn't work properly and phone gets stuckedin last days, response in opening apps and so on is much slower than before and I don't understand why600 euros for such a product is really too much. I bought this product for its sustainability commitment but I didn't expect such a bad quality...

The phone it's self is a gem, ordering it from their website is a total nightmare. While the website looks like it does the trick, it is completely terrible. I had to order my phone 3 X from the website - the website took my money but didn't process my order meaning I was down £900 with no phone in sight. Completely terrible. To date they still haven't refunded me.

The battery life is horrible. My old budget mobile lasted from 24-36 hours. My Fairphone doesn't stand my daily use for more than 2 hours.

The battery life is not bad ,it's just that it's not good either . More than good enough,it's just that it could be a lot better . Would make the phone even better that it is, especially since Fairphone customers would appreciate a higher quality battery that would last longer . However , I would say that the normal quality battery (not good not bad) negative aspect of the phone is outweighed by the fact that in a matter of seconds you can simply swap the phones battery and have 100% automatically . This is literally impossible with other phone brands. You would have to charge the phone with a power bank and habe to wait several minutes for the phone to reach 100%. Overall,the Fairphone 4 is a great phone ,I'm not going back to any other phone brand. I don't understand all the negative reviews online. The size is perfect .The weight is perfect .The camera is good .The phone's speed is good too . I am 100% satisfied ,even with the battery that could be much better .I'm planning on buying a second spare battery to charge my phone to 100% in seconds !

First one I got lasted 1 year and a half of heavy use. Numerous falls, including one from 4 stories and I had it in a steamy bathroom alot. Ultimately the antenna gave out but I bought another one because of its immense durability. Second phone came pre-bricked so I sent it back. Third phone is now having issues with GPS and takes ages to get a fixed position. Hopefully I can resolve this on the fairphone forum, but as I buy these from the official store I'd expect better.

I want to give it 5 stars, I really do. I love the idea behind the brand.But.... a recent update highjacks your power button and makes it the "Google Assistant Button". Ridiculous! I love Fairphone's mission of durability, sustainability, customer-rights, and paying a fair price for goods and services down the supply chain. This move feels weirdly antithetical to most of that mission. It was either a choke move by Google demanding that real estate or a piece of your phone that Fairphone "sold" to a feature. If it's the former, it wouldn't be Fairphone's fault, but if it's the latter that would be disappointing!To opt out, you have to change the power button "Gesture" is your settings. But why highjack the button and make it a opt-out instead of an opt-in for a piece of bloatware? Not really customer-centric. It's the POWER button, not the "Your Bloatware here" button.If Fairphone would push back on this issue, this would be a 5 star review!

I have only ever owned Fairphone smart phones, 1, 2 and 3+ and the Fairphone 4 lives upto all my expectations. Absolutely no complaints or problems at all. A phone that is ethical and can be repaired is just a no brainer and I am happy to support this enterprise. Delivered very quickly after ordering.

Overall a bit disappointing. The phone itself works well and I fully support the concept. However the size/weight makes it unusable one-handed which is a deal-breaker for me, particularly when the entry price remains significantly higher than equivalent models of other brands (even more so for second hand models). While I will continue to support your evolution and hope for more ergonomic models at more affordable prices in the future, I will unfortunately return this one.

Unfortunately I can't do a good review. I have been using this phone for 1 year now, so my opinion has some kind of a foundation.I have been following this project since the first version, waiting for the right moment to step in and give them an opportunity. FP4 was, in my opinion the right moment, but I think I have anticipated the moment.Don't get me wrong, I love this phone, the idea, construction, the effort put on it, but for the price I paid, wich is just 100€ cheaper than a OnePlus 10 Pro, this phone doesn't make the cut.Battery life is short, the phone it's heavy, charging time is slooooow, but I can live with that. It's the performance what gets me. eSIM causing constant-random reboots, phone overheating, lossing connectivity all the time, sloooow responsiveness, the camera is under no circumstances worth using, and some other things.I think, that a 600€ phone MUST show some skills, the idea of being green and all is great, I bought that, but I want reliability too.I'll keep owning this phone until it die, and I will buy another one, but only when I am sure you deliver a product at the same level as the price you ask

Congratulations, that this project is still running. Especially the certification of the materials production chain, the use of recycled materials and the ideas about recycling are good. The phone does what it should. The size is not an optimum for me. The modular construction is probalby also responsible and I know that smartphones are getting bigger and a manufacturer has to follow the trend. The combination of thickness, length, width, wheight and the material of the bumper, see below, makes it sometimes difficult to hold the phone. Probably this cannot be done better and due to the idea behind the smartphne I decided to accept this.

This is my second fairphone and I expected there to be 2 physical SIM card slots in it like my previous one. However after spending a large amount of money on a new fiarphone 4 I discovered that your second SIM card was only an eSIM. This caused me huge problems since my primary SIM card is in a country not supported by you nor by eSIM (Ghana) and my secondary SIM card was a UK vodafone "pay as you go" and they refused to give me an eSIM unless I paid a minimum of £11 per month for a contract that I would not be able to use since I do not live in the UK. It was very stressful since I was only in the UK for Christmas and this was the only window in which I could recieve a delivery from you and sort out all this hassle. In the end I was forced to change mobile phone providers to the only one I could find that currently allow a pay as you go eSIM (Lycamobile). Please consider putting back the second physical SIM card slot until such a time as eSIM cards are more widespread &/or we see an end to the discriminatory roaming charges that are unaffordable for people workign for charities abroad. Thanks for consiering this.

I was attracted to this phone by the underlying ethos of sustainability and fairly traded components, and I anticipated much more use of open-source software to match. The hardware is made of repairable or replaceable components - but is the software equally repairable or replaceable? Personally, even if the operating system has to be Android, I would prefer the apps to be based more on open-source or at least Google-independent products. In terms of performance, the hardware seems to work well, though the touch screen is noticeably less responsive at times than that of my previous Samsung phone.

Easily the best phone I've ever had Quality piece of kit. I love the conscientious design in that I can replace parts easily, not that I've needed to do far. I've had it for a year and have had no issues at all. Fair phone have earned by trust as a reliable organisation. I was concerned that Google would withhold Android updates, but I have the next OS now, so my one concern turned out not to be a problem.

Overall a very good phone, great building quality, fast and responsive most of the times although I would expect a bit better battery life. Moved to Fairphone mostly because of the ethical and sustainable attitude behind its products and to to do so I had to more than double my usual budget for a phone. So this is a big improvement for me but I would really welcome the option of a modern yet lower range phone. So now my expecatations are to keep this for as mayny years as possible and hope this phone will meet them.

I love my Fairphone 4 and after 10 months I didn't have any problems with the hardware or with the software (which gets continuously updates). For I'm no gamer, the speed and memory are good enough - I never got to any limit of either.I'm only a little disappointed that there is no speckled green or at least a transparent bumper (at all the bumpers are very expensive).

Love my new phone! The camera and finger print scanner are better than the fairphone 3 and the phone is quicker. My only complaints are that there is only one sim card port whereas the fairphone 3+ had 2 which was really handy while I was travelling. Also disappointed there is no aux port.

The phone itself works smoothly and comfortable. The camera is quite OK. But battery life is very disappointing. I tried to use saving measures but they are difficult to apply. For example, simply not refreshing apps in the background has been disabled. Using the energy saving mode does not work either. Even removing apps after use does not help. Using it for 15 minutes per day (no videos etc.) makes the battery discharge in three days.
