We’ve been using the app to regularly update the lock mode on our kids watches (so we control when they can call/text/receive calls). The watches are ok. The GPS function is unfortunately not very accurate, sometimes absurdly so. My kids will be side by side wearing their watches and the app will show them over a mile apart. About 3 weeks ago we opened the app to edit their lock modes (going back to school after a break) but every time we tried to save an edit the app would crash. Customer service has told me for several weeks now that they’re “very sorry” for this bug and they’ve made it a high priority to fix it. 3 weeks later, no change. Meanwhile, they have no problem continuing to charge me for the service. It‘s frustrating to have these problems with a service that is supposed to make my life easier.

The basic idea of the Gabb phone was great:Just a phone for kids for calls and texting and GPS, plus a few extras like music and camera, but no social media or wide open internet. The problem is that contrary to Gabb’a claims, there is NO GPS!! Nor is there even a fake GPS that uses WiFi networks like the first iPhone did back in 2007. So you cannot see your kid’s location, except when the kid is actually logged in to WiFi at home or at school (which is exactly when you don’t need the location info). To add insult to injury, Gabb shows your kids’ last WiFi location hours after the kid has already left that location. We are incredibly disappointed. It’s bad enough that they don’t have GPS but their false claims about GPS are even less excusable.

The only real reason for this app is to utilize the GPS feature of the phone. However, if the child’s phone battery gets low it stops “locating” and even once it’s charged again the location doesn’t automatically keep sending. You have to go through the process of either re-pairing the device or having them turn location off and back on and hope it resets. This is troubling though because if it would happen at a time when I need to be able to locate my child and they cannot reset it, it is useless.I contacted Gabb support a couple times and they were no help at all…and it clearly hasn’t been fixed because it just happened to us AGAIN…
